MEMO – Histoires du jour (“MEMO”, “the app”) is a mobile application published by Thomas Vorgeat, available on iOS and Android. This policy explains what data is collected when you use the app or the contact form on our website, why, where it is stored and what your rights are.
Data controller: Thomas Vorgeat — memoappli.contact@gmail.com.
1. Summary
- MEMO works without an account: in guest mode, your favorites and your progress are linked to an anonymous technical identifier, with no name or email address.
- If you create an account, we collect your email address and your first/last name in order to sync your data.
- We collect no banking data: payments are handled by Apple and Google.
- We do not sell your data, and the app displays no advertising.
- You can delete your account and your data at any time.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Account data (only if you create an account)
- Email address;
- First and last name (based on the information provided when signing up or by Google / Apple);
- Automatically generated unique account identifier.
Authentication (email/password with a verification code, Google or Apple sign-in) is operated by our service provider Clerk. Your password is never visible to MEMO.
2.2 Guest mode
Without an account, your data (favorites, progress, preferences) is stored on your device. An anonymous technical identifier specific to the device is used to save your progress and the status of your free trial on the server side, with no name, email or other identity data. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally.
2.3 Usage data
- Stories added to favorites and stories viewed;
- Progress in the app (quizzes, badges, recaps, streaks of consecutive days);
- Preferences (favorite topics and eras, notification time, settings);
- Usage events (opening the app, screens viewed, adding a favorite, starting a trial, etc.) and session statistics;
- Welcome flow (onboarding steps completed).
2.4 Technical data
- Device model, device name, operating system and version;
- App version;
- Country/region and language set on the device.
2.5 Subscription data
Premium subscription status (free, trial, subscriber), start and end dates, and technical transaction identifiers provided by Apple or Google. No credit card data is collected by or accessible to MEMO: payment is processed exclusively by Apple's App Store or by Google Play.
3. Where your data goes: our service providers
- Supabase — the app's database: accounts, favorites, progress, preferences, usage statistics and syncing across your devices.
- Clerk — account authentication (email/password, Google, Apple) and session management.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing and subscription management. Apple and Google act under their own privacy policies.
- Meta (Facebook SDK) and TikTok (TikTok Business SDK) — measuring the effectiveness of our user acquisition ad campaigns: these SDKs receive limited events (app install, trial start, purchase) in order to measure installs coming from ads on Instagram/Facebook and TikTok. This measurement relies on Apple's aggregated, privacy-preserving mechanisms (SKAdNetwork): MEMO does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- FormSubmit — routing messages sent through the contact form on our website (first name, email, message) to our mailbox. This data is used only to respond to your request and is kept for the period stated for support exchanges.
These service providers process data on our behalf and are not allowed to use it for their own commercial purposes, except for Apple, Google, Meta and TikTok, which act as data controllers for their own services. Some providers may host data outside the European Union; such transfers are then governed by appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses).
4. Notifications
MEMO's notifications (story of the day, reminders, end of trial) are local notifications: they are scheduled directly on your device and do not require sending any data to a server. They are only enabled with your permission and can be turned off at any time in the app's settings or your phone's settings.
5. Why we use this data
- Providing the service (performance of a contract): displaying content, saving your favorites and your progress, syncing your devices, managing your Premium subscription;
- Improving the app (legitimate interest): usage statistics to understand which features are used and to fix problems;
- Measuring our ad campaigns (legitimate interest): knowing, in aggregate, whether our ads generate installs;
- Notifying you (consent): only if you have enabled notifications;
- Responding to your requests: email support.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. The app does not include any ad network and does not display any third-party advertising.
6. Retention periods
- Account data: as long as your account is active, then deleted when the account is deleted;
- Usage data and statistics: up to 2 years after your last activity;
- Guest mode data: kept on your device as long as the app is installed; anonymous server-side data can be deleted on request;
- Support exchanges: up to 1 year after your request has been resolved.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights:
- right of access to your data;
- right to rectification;
- right to erasure (deletion of your account and all your data);
- right to data portability;
- right to object and right to restriction of processing;
- right to withdraw your consent at any time (for example for notifications).
You can delete your account directly from the app's settings, which erases your data from our servers, or write to us at memoappli.contact@gmail.com to exercise any of these rights. We respond within one month at most.
If you believe that your rights are not being respected, you can file a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
8. Security
- Encryption of all data in transit (HTTPS/TLS);
- Secure authentication and sessions managed with signed tokens;
- Strict database access rules: each user (or guest device) can only access their own data;
- Sensitive local storage protected by the system's secure keychain (Keychain).
9. Minors
MEMO is an educational and cultural app suitable for all audiences, but it is not intended for children under 13 without a parent's consent. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us so that we can delete it immediately.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, in particular as the app evolves. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page; in the event of a significant change, we will let you know in the app.
